Description

Polymer80 80% Frame Bundle: PF940v2, PF940Cv1, PF9SS Kit — This is the triple-threat of the 80% world, letting you build a full-size, compact, and single-stack Glock-style pistol from the ground up. We’ve sold dozens of these bundles since we started carrying them in fall 2025, and they’ve become a steady seller for a reason: it’s three distinct projects in one box, offering incredible versatility for the dedicated builder. At $529.99, you’re getting a serious value compared to buying each kit individually, and it lands on your bench with everything you need to get started except the tools and the slide.

Stand-Out Features

Let’s talk about what makes this bundle special. You’re not just getting one platform; you’re getting the three most popular Polymer80 footprints. The PF940v2 is your classic full-size 17/22 frame—the workhorse. The PF940Cv1 is the compact 19/23 size, a perfect balance for carry or competition. And the PF9SS is the slim, single-stack 43/48 platform. Having all three means you can experiment with different calibers, sizes, and purposes. In our hands-on inspections before shipping, we consistently find the machining on these to be clean, with crisp rails and properly sized pin holes. The finish isn’t just for show, either. One of my guys noted after a test cycle that “the coating is tougher than it looks — held up through 3 cleaning cycles with Hoppes” without any dulling or softening. That’s the kind of durability you want for a frame that’s going to see real use.

How It Stacks Up

Feature Polymer80 Bundle (PF940v2, Cv1, 9SS) Competitor A: Single 80% Frame Kit Competitor B: “Budget” 80% Kit
Value Proposition Three distinct frames for the price of ~1.5 single kits. Ultimate versatility. One frame, one project. Standard offering. One frame, often with lower-cost components.
Frame Fit & Finish (Our QC) Consistently passes visual inspection. Clean machining, proper finish, correct fit to spec. Varies; some require more hand-fitting. Often has visible mold lines, rougher texture.
Included Jig Quality Dedicated, precision-milled aluminum jig for each specific frame. Usually a dedicated jig. Sometimes a universal or polymer jig, less precise.
Rail System Stainless steel front and rear rails, machined to match frame specs. Similar stainless rails. MIM or lower-grade steel rails more common.
Community & Aftermarket Massive support. Every frame has a huge library of tutorials and compatible parts. Good support for common models. Limited aftermarket support, fewer resources.

Strengths and Weaknesses

✅ The Pros:

  • Unmatched Project Variety: One purchase unlocks three completely different builds. It’s like a sampler platter for the 80% world.
  • Proven, Popular Platforms: These aren’t obscure designs. The PF940v2 and Cv1 are the OGs, with years of community knowledge behind them. The PF9SS taps into the slim-line carry trend.
  • Consistent Quality (From Our Bench): Based on our pre-shipment inspections, these kits consistently show clean machining, proper finish application, and all components present. This reliability is why it’s a steady seller for us.
  • Complete Kit (Minus Tools): You get the frame, the correct jig, all rails, and all pins. No hunting for small parts.
  • Durable Finish: As noted, that matte coating resists solvents and wear better than you might expect from a polymer frame.

❌ The Cons:

  • Investment & Commitment: This is a $500+ entry point, and you’ll need to buy three slides, barrels, and parts kits to complete them all. It’s a commitment.
  • Skill Requirement: You need basic workshop skills—drilling and milling—and the proper tools (jig vise, drill press/hand drill, Dremel/router). It’s not a snap-together toy.
  • No “One-Size-Fits-All” Manual: While similar, each frame has its own slight nuances in the finishing process. You need to pay attention to the specific instructions for each.

Best For

Buy this bundle if: You’re an experienced builder who wants to tackle multiple projects without placing separate orders. You’re curious about the differences between full-size, compact, and single-stack platforms and want to experience them all. You value having a spare frame on hand for future builds or experiments. You appreciate the economies of scale and the per-frame cost savings this bundle offers.

Skip this bundle if: You’re a complete novice to 80% builds. Start with a single frame kit to learn the process. You only have interest in one specific size of pistol. Buying a single kit is more cost-effective. Your budget is tight after the initial purchase; remember, the frame is just the start of the financial outlay for a complete firearm.

Your Questions Answered

What tools do I absolutely need to complete these?

At a minimum: a sturdy vise, a hand drill or drill press, a Dremel tool or router with appropriate bits, and a set of files/sandpaper. Safety glasses are non-negotiable. A drill press is highly recommended over a hand drill for precision, especially on the pin holes.

Are the rails pre-installed?

No. The stainless steel front and rear rails are included separately. You will install them during the final assembly stage, after the frame milling is complete and the holes are drilled. They are a press-fit into the polymer.

Is this considered a firearm when I buy it?

No. When you purchase this bundle from us, it is a collection of unfinished frames and parts. It is not classified as a firearm under federal law. It only becomes a firearm once it has been machined to a state where it can accept a slide and fire a round. Always know and comply with your state and local laws regarding 80% receivers.

Where can I buy Polymer80 online?

Right here at Glockpistolswitch. We’re a Charlotte, NC-based retailer that inspects every product before it ships. We’ve been stocking this specific bundle since fall 2025, and our customers have given it a 4.4 out of 5 rating. We ship from our domestic warehouse with no customs hassle.

How difficult is the milling process?

It’s a straightforward process if you follow the instructions and take your time. The polymer is relatively easy to work with. The key is to go slow, make multiple light passes, and constantly check your progress against the jig. Rushing is the easiest way to make a mistake. There are countless video tutorials online for these specific models.

What kind of slide and parts do I need?

You will need a complete slide assembly (slide, barrel, recoil spring, sights) and a lower parts kit (trigger mechanism, connectors, springs, etc.) for each frame. These must be compatible with the Glock model each frame mimics: G17/22 for the PF940v2, G19/23 for the PF940Cv1, and G43/48 for the PF9SS.

Can I legally sell a completed pistol I build from this?

If you build a firearm for your own personal use, you generally cannot manufacture it with the intent to sell it. If you do decide to sell a firearm you built, you likely need to have it serialized and transfer it through a licensed dealer (FFL). This is a complex area of law; you must consult an attorney familiar with firearms regulations in your jurisdiction. We cannot provide legal advice.
